Liver and onions

Last week I had an ultrasound done of my liver and other organs. (Clarification for those who need it, it was of my LIVER not of my womb, and I am NOT pregnant haha)

Since I am on so many intense antibiotics, they wanted to make sure it was functioning ok. I have had this done before, and as anyone who has had any kind of ultrasound it is somewhat exciting to think you will be able see your insides on a computer screen, and then you look at the screen, and cant make anything out. It is just a black and white mess, with blobs and blimps all over it. So knowing there was no way I would be able to read what she was looking at, I didnt even try. Halfway through the ultrasound my day dreaming became a bore and I decided to look over at the screen. Still couldn’t make anything out. But then the nurse said..”would you like to see what I’m looking at?”  so of course..I said yes. She then proceeded to show me each organ, and even though they still looked like blobs to me, it was still fascinating. While she was taking me through my liver and kidneys, she also pointed out three major blood vessels. She hit a button on the screen and all the blood vessels lit up, it was amazing. I could see which blood vessels travel through all the organs to pump blood to the heart, and then the other blood vessel that pumps blood out of the heart. To make it even more amazing she told me each blood vessel has a different rhythm, which creates a different sound. And yes she turned yet another button on the computer and I heard each different rhythm from each different blood vessel. Amazing.

It was an amazing thing to experienced, maybe that is a little bold to say. But it really was. To be able to see inside the human body, and to see how each organ, each and every blood vessel all work in unison, simply to make the heart beat, which is simply what keeps us alive. The human body is amazing, I am still amazed at people who look at its intricate design, and study how it functions…and still they don’t believe in God. You are crazy.

I think I maybe would have liked to be one of those people, who look inside bodies and figure out how to cure sicknesses…but instead, people get to look inside mine, and try to make me better, and maybe one day they  will figure it out.
